Dr Susan Carr

Susan Carr is Professor of Public Health Research in the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences at the University of Northumbria, England. She is also Associate Director of Fuse, the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health. She has a substantial clinical, education and research history in primary care and public health. Her work is underpinned by a translational philosophy. Her portfolio focuses on complex public health interventions and embraces knowledge articulation, understanding and responding to needs of hard to reach or disengaged populations, proximal and distal outcome identification and measurement. These subjects require a diverse methodology with an emphasis on qualitative and realist approaches. She collaborates nationally in the development and application of public involvement and engagement in research. She is an Executive Board member of the UK and Ireland Chapter of the International Family Nursing Association and sits on the international research committee with special interest in dyadic research approaches to enhance understanding of lay carer roles
