Tobyn Eagles

Postgraduate Associate

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

I am a Senior Research Assistant working at Northumbria University as part of the Health Economics team. Before joining Northumbria University, I worked at Newcastle University specialising in Epidemiology. Whilst at Newcastle University, I worked with large datasets from the UK Biobank identifying causality and risk behaviours associated with lifestyle diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease. I also worked in Melbourne (Australia) at The Cancer Council in the Epidemiology department where I worked on the ABC Study investigating causes of non-communicable diseases, mainly cancer. I co-authored a publication on cancer survivorship whilst also analysing approximately 50,000 participants anthropometric and accelerometer data.

The areas of research I am interested in include epidemiology, nutrition and health economics. I take particular interest in projects which contain elements from my differing research interests, such as, social return of investment models for nutrtition based interventions or, economic modelling and service evaluations for frailty assessments and interventions.
