Menswear
designer Niran Nair’s final collection is primarily inspired by Tibetan culture
and style, featuring a relaxed fit, reflecting garments worn in the Chinese
region as well as his own personal style.
Niran, who is originally from York, creates garments as a direct reaction to a piece of art or architecture he has seen, to reflect a certain mood, or to make an item he desires for his own personal wardrobe. The designer has a love of art, sportswear and workwear, which regularly combine to provide a contrast of different avenues when he takes on a design project.
His final year collection features elongated sleeves and various ties around different parts of the torso, not only reflecting Tibetan style and culture, but showcasing his work in technical fabrication and his British urban influences.
Niran took part in a design internship at Liam Hodges while at University, which involved pattern cutting, sewing, assisting styling and garment preparation backstage of show, design input, and collecting research.
