Northumbria named third for health and safety within the education sector

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running Health and Safety industry awards.

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare and education.

Northumbria has placed third in the competitive Education and Training sector and was awarded with the ‘Commended’ accolade that is presented to organisations for the most outstanding performance in health and safety within the sector.

This builds on the University’s previous successful entries in the scheme’s merit-based awards. Northumbria has participated in RoSPA awards since 2018 and has maintained a gold standard for two consecutive years. The University’s trajectory within the scheme demonstrates its robust and high-quality safety management system together with consistently excellent and continuously improving health, safety and wellbeing performance.
