Police Media Training

In May 2018, staff from Northumbria University hosted a day of ‘media training’ for Inspectors from the Northern Area Command.  Officers dealt with breaking news scenarios both on location and ‘down the line’ from Northumbria’s television studios.

Following that success, we are delighted that the Senior Management Team from the force will join us in September 2018 to focus on television interview training. In the first scenario the team will be required to respond to operational issues, whilst the second will deal with reputational risk.

The Police Research and Education Network Seminar Series

The Police Research and Education Network seminar series draws upon leading research expertise in each of the university's faculties. Each session provides an opportunity for staff to present their research findings on key topics for contemporary policing and to reflect on the challenge of developing evidence based for police practice. The seminars are informal and are designed to promote debate between academics and practitioners from the Police and other relevant agencies.
