Where are you from?

Darlington

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because it was close to my hometown, more so than a lot of my other choices and as I was commuting I wanted an accessible uni.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I think newcastle is a very cultured city and there are lots to do. I like to go to the Baltic art gallery and tyneside cinema. The shopping is amazing too!

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I don't live in Newcastle, but the thing that has surprised me the most is how pretty the city actually is. I think a lot of people have misconceptions of what Newcastle is actually like.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming?  Was it easy to fit in?

It was easy to fit in because most of the other students on your course are in the same position as you - they don't know anybody so it is really easy to make friends.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Everybody is friendly and the lecturers are extremely helpful and caring.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

The lecturers - if I have a problem I can guarantee that they will organise a meeting with me and solve the problem as easily as possible.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Habita - the food is yummy and it is nice to just chill there before lesson.

What is the best thing about your course?

It is small - you get to know everyone a lot more than if there were a 100 plus. You also build a closer relationship to your lecturers.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Take care whilst writing essays and do not start a week before the deadline. Preparation is definitely the key to success in essays and exams.

What do you want to do in the future?  What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to be a film critic in the future. I have obviously learnt a lot about films theoretically and that will help me have a better insight into the films I am reviewing.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Come to newcastle for a day out. You have to get a feel of the city before you decide to come here because most likely you will be living here.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel I am more independent. I was used to handing in essays and getting to do second drafts in college but here you have one shot and you don't get any handouts - you do your own research.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Definitely
