Leadership and Governance

Our Board of Governors oversees the institution’s activities. It is the governing body with overall responsibility for the University’s mission, strategic performance, resources and assets.

It ensures accountability of the Executive functions.  Our Governors are drawn from a wide range of academic and non-academic backgrounds, with most of them external to the University. The Chair of the Board is Dr Roberta Blackman-Woods.

Our Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive is Professor Andy Long. He is the principal academic and administrative officer of the University - responsible to, and appointed by, the Board. He is also the University's Accountable Officer for the Office for Students (OfS).

Our University Executive advises the Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to the management of the University. Its members are the senior academic and professional leadership of the University.

Our four academic Faculties are: Arts, Design & Social Sciences; Business & Law; Engineering & Environment; Health & Life Sciences.

Our Professional Services are: Student, Library and Academic Services; Estates and Facilities; Finance; Human Resources; IT Services; Global Marketing and Business; Research & Innovation Services and the Vice-Chancellor's Office.

The Chancellor of the University is Baroness Grey-Thompson of Eaglescliffe
