HAF Plus at Northumbria University

HAF PLUS THIS SUMMER

Ahead of the HAF Plus roll out this summer, Northumbria University has launched a schedule of free activities to support local authorities in the delivery of the programme. Committing facilities, expertise, and staff resources the University will deliver a host of engaging activities for 13–16-year-old participants throughout the summer both on-site at City Campus and off-site at the Metrocentre Hub.

As part of its ongoing commitment to drive social mobility and enabling people from all backgrounds to succeed, Northumbria University will be actively involved in the delivery of HAF Plus this summer through its partnership with three local authorities in the North East of England – Newcastle, Northumberland and Gateshead.

Northumbria University will welcome HAF Plus participants onto Newcastle city campus to take part in a variety of sports, entrepreneurship, skills development, and wellbeing activities on several days throughout the school holidays:

Tuesday 13th August – 10.30am – 3.30pm

Wednesday 14th August – 10.30am – 3.30pm

Monday 19th August– 10.30am – 3.30pm

NORTHUMBRIA UNIVERSITY AT THE METROCENTRE

In addition to the on-campus activity Northumbria University academics will be delivering hands-on, interactive sessions to HAF Plus attendees and members of the public on topics including the effects of vaping, alcohol awareness and wellbeing, as well as signposting to mental health and advisory services.

The sessions will be delivered using some of the University’s state-of-the-art medical simulation and virtual reality equipment and will give people the chance to see how the body responds to vaping and excessive alcohol consumption. The team will be at the Metrocentre Hub on:

Friday 2nd August - 9am - 5pm

Monday 5th August - 9am - 5pm

Tuesday 6th August - 9am - 5pm

Friday 9th August - 9am - 5pm

Monday 12th August - 9am - 5pm

Tuesday 13th August - 9am - 5pm
