Cyber Security and Network Systems (CyberNets)​

The Cybernetwork Systems and Security Research Group (CyberNets) endeavours to conduct advanced research in the development of secure and reliable networking systems, covering a diverse range of topics such as wireless networking, mobile computing, distributed systems, cloud computing, sensor networks, IoT, and network security. CyberNets' goal is to deliver end-to-end security solutions that address broader human and societal aspects of security, privacy, and trust.

Network systems are embedded into every aspect of our digital living, enabling inter-connectivity between devices, applications, services and people for extraction, transfer and exchange of information. We engage in cutting-edge research to design and develop end-to-end secure and reliable networking systems.

The Cybernetwork Systems and Security Research Group (CyberNets) strives to engage in cutting-edge research to design and develop end-to-end secure and reliable networking systems.

NetSyS conducts research on a diverse range of topics overarching, wireless networking, mobile computing, distributed systems, cloud computing, sensor networks, IoT and network security.

The group’s key activities on the Networking side are focused at optimising network technologies, architectures and communication protocols through mathematical modelling, design and analysis using both theoretical and experimental research. The group’s aim is to innovate intelligent networking systems that can adapt to application and service requirements.

Active projects include, management and optimization of on-the-move Electric Vehicles, Energy efficient and reliable communication protocols for IWSNs, Optimization of Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication using SDNs and distributed cloud, QoS-aware Resource Allocation for 802.11ac networks.  

On the Security side, our research addresses key technical aspects of network security, forensics and privacy. We aim to innovate solutions that utilise state of machine learning techniques to mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities. Our aim is to deliver end-to-end security solutions that address broader human, societal aspects of security, privacy and trust.

Our research projects are funded by European Union, Royal Society, and the Newton Fund.
