Our Alumni - Work For Us
Northumbria University is expanding and enhancing the support it provides to students receiving their A-level, AS-level, VTQ and T-level results next week.
With results being published on Thursday 14 August, many students and parents will be anxiously awaiting their grades.
This year, for the first time, expert staff from Northumbria University will be based at a number of schools and colleges across the region, meeting students as they receive their results.
They will provide students at ten locations between Blyth and Darlington with advice and guidance and will be able to make on-the-spot offers of a place at Northumbria to eligible students, removing the need for them to call the University or wait for a response.
As well as providing this in-person support, staff will also be on hand to answer phone calls through Northumbria’s popular Clearing Hotline. Every year, thousands of potential students call the hotline looking to confirm their place or search for a place on a course.

According to UCAS data there has been a huge increase in the number of students using Clearing in recent years. UCAS reports a significant growth in the number of students declining their original choices and using Clearing to proactively explore their options and find a new course or university.
Northumbria University’s UK Student Recruitment and Access Manager, Tom Smith, explained: “We know that results day is an anxious time for students and their families, and we have been looking for ways to make the Clearing process as stress-free and accessible as possible.
“By sending our experienced and knowledgeable staff into a selection of schools and colleges, we can meet students where they are and give them immediate clarity about their options.
“Our staff will be able to answer questions, discuss course choices, explain the application process, and support students in making informed decisions about their future at a crucial moment in their academic journey.
“They will also be able to make on-the-spot offers to eligible students at their school or college, removing the need for them to contact the Clearing Hotline or wait for a response.”
Tom added: “We also know that some students will have changed their mind about what or where they would like to study and so our Clearing Hotline is already open for those that have their results.”
Teams from Northumbria will be attending the following schools and colleges across the region and will be available to talk to students from 8am on A-level results day.
