Global brand experts invited to Newcastle

15th February 2018

Northumbria University, Newcastle, is set to host one of the world’s leading academic conferences on branding, and invites academics and practitioners to sign up.

The 13th Global Brand Conference (GBC), “Branding in the Digital Age: Innovation and Responsibility”, will be held at Newcastle Business School from the 2nd to 4th of May 2018. An international panel of experts will debate and present on the latest research and theoretical applications in the market.

Managed by the Academy of Marketing’s Brand Identity and Corporate Reputation Special Interest Group, the annual conference has established itself as one of the most highly anticipated events for global branding experts.

Previous conferences have been held in cities including Atlanta, Barcelona, Porto, and last year in Kalmar, Sweden. Adding Newcastle to the list confirms the city’s reputation as an international conference destination. It also reflects the growing stature of Newcastle Business School as a global institution for business and management education. Named Business School of the Year in the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards 2015, Newcastle Business School also has distinguished itself internationally with a double AACSB accreditation.

Doctor Vignesh Yoganathan from Newcastle Business School, and Conference Chair, said: “This is a significant conference where leading experts from around the world will come together to debate the latest developments and challenges in brand marketing, and provide valuable insight on the future direction of this rapidly evolving discipline. Among the topics to be discussed will be how to manage cutting-edge advances in digital marketing with a responsibility for social justice; for example facing up to the challenges of fake news. I would encourage marketing professionals and academics to attend and contribute to current debates in the field. Newcastle Business School is located right in the heart of this historic and vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne, which has its own thriving digital marketing sector. The conference includes several social events that are designed to showcase the history and significance of the city and the region. Coupled with a lively and stimulating campus that has a genuine international outlook, I have no doubt this will be a rewarding experience for the attendees.

We are proud to host this event, and are delighted to have an award-winning global digital marketing agency, iProspect (part of Dentsu Aegis Network) as our official partner. They are at the forefront of global digital marketing, and have a strong presence in the region as an employer as well as an industry leader.

Pete Coates, Director of iProspect Leeds said, “We are excited to sponsor such a pivotal event for Northumbria University and the global branding academic community. Our global footprint and diverse client base, spanning all sectors, gives us a vast amount of knowledge and experience from the world of digital marketing, which we look forward to sharing with you at the Global Brand Conference.”
