Northumbria Celebrates Success at Inaugural Apprenticeship Awards
Northumbria has recently hosted its first-ever Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony, recognising the achievements of outstanding apprentices and the organisations that support them.
Held on campus and attended by over 70 guests—including employers, apprentices, academics, and professional support staff—the event highlighted the vital role apprenticeships play in the region’s workforce development and economic growth. The awards were co-hosted by Professor Graham Wynn, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education at Northumbria, and Professor Sarah Soppitt, Dean of Apprenticeships at Northumbria.
A keynote address was also provided by Kim Smith, Regional Lead for Technical Education and Enterprise at the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, who emphasised the power of collaboration between universities and employers in fostering skills and creating opportunities in the North East.
Professor Wynn said: “This event was a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and the transformational impact of apprenticeships. We are proud to honour individuals and organisations who embody the values of dedication, innovation, and inclusion.”
The awards acknowledged excellence across several categories, recognising both individual achievements and institutional commitment to apprentice development.
