Assistant Professor

Department: Social Sciences

I joined Northumbria University in 2007. Prior to this I worked as a Youth Worker, a Community Development officer, and a Training Manager. I spend 3 years working for the Home Office co-ordinating the North East response to the Government's Community Cohesion agenda, following the disturbances in Northern towns in 2001. I then worked for the Regional Development Agency on knowledge exchange for Regeneration practitioners, before taking up my current post at Northumbria University.

During my career I have been a board member of a local youth project (Just Be Me 2005 -2011), a VCS regional advisory committee member (The Community Fund 2003 – 2006), and a panel member of the Big Lottery Young People’s fund (2005 -2006).

I teach on the BSc Sociology, BSc Criminology and Sociology, BA International Relations and Politics and the Foundation Year in Social Sciences.

I am currently the Programme Leader for the Foundation Year in Social Science
