Professor Michael Rowe

He has an international reputation for his research and publications in the field of policing, paying particular attention to policing,culture and reforms, race and racism, police culture, and the policing of domestic violence. Other interests include on-line victimisation and offender desistance. He has published seven books on policing, crime, race and related issues and is the (co)author of 30 articles in scholarly journals. In recent years he has been a member of the Executive of the British Society of Criminology and Vice-President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology. From 2010-2012 he was an academic member of the Independent Police Commission chaired by Lord Stevens. Previously he was director of the Institute of Criminology at Victoria University Wellington and senior lecturer in criminology at the University of Leicester.
