Our Alumni - Work For Us
Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs)
PSRBs are a diverse group of professional bodies, employer bodies, regulators and those with statutory authority over a profession or group of professionals. They set the standards for, and regulate entry into given professions, and are authorised to accredit, approve or recognise specific Higher Education programmes leading to the relevant professional qualification/s for which they may have a statutory or regulatory responsibility.
PSRB accreditation of our programmes
Northumbria University has accreditation arrangements with over 60 PSRBs, nationally and internationally, covering over 400 of our programmes. Programme accreditation is awarded by the PSRB only after a rigorous approval event leading to assurance that a programme meets the standards required by the given PSRB. Each PSRB has its own specific criteria, but graduates of an accredited programme may be conferred with membership, (partial) chartered status or partial exemption to future professional examinations. In some cases, a PSRB-accredited Northumbria programme provides a licence to practise. This important aspect of the University's provision is likely to have a beneficial effect on students' employment prospects. Details of our PSRB-accredited undergraduate programmes are available through the Course Search facility. Once a programme is selected from the Course Search a scroll down the programme information page leads to the (red) Discover Uni information which, includes specific accreditation details, if applicable, of the given programme. A complete list of programmes and associated accreditation bodies can be found here.
How the University compiles its PSRB Accreditation Data: Processes & Procedures
Academic Registry’s PSRB Accreditations Team is responsible for new applications and the maintenance of existing accreditations. The team have an alignment to each of our Faculties, and assist in ensuring that all processes and procedures are adhered to, enabling compliance to both internal quality assurance frameworks and external PSRB standards requirements. Student Records and Registry Services as well as Strategy, Governance and Engagement teams work closely with us to provide the quantitative data required in both new accreditations and maintenance reporting.
