What will I learn on this module?
The module asks you to develop your visual and written editorial skills and abilities through focused consideration of fashion through the lens of otherness and inclusivity.
Your project will be defined through exploration of a topic that often falls outside of the spotlight of fashion, celebrating uniqueness through feature content that identifies and demonstrates the value of individuality and diversity to the wider industry. Students will develop and utilise their photography and image-making skills to create arresting and engaging visual materials to be considered alongside written/oral content in the form of digital-facing editorial features, long-form copy and/or verbal content (e.g. podcasts/interviews).
Development of skills will be supported in sessions and assisted in the themes addressed in adjacent modules. The final outcome of the module will reflect industry standards, and skills developed on this module will be utlilised throughout the rest of your undergraduate degree and beyond.
How will I learn on this module?
You will attend weekly sessions, where workshops will assist you in developing your practice and understanding of contemporary fashion communication in the form of editorial content disseminated through relevant and appropriate media channels. You will fully focus on your chosen subject in the form of representations of otherness, inclusivity and diversity to generate celebratory and engaging media in the form of written, visual and/or oral content. Skills will be implicitly and explicitly developed throughworkshops, identifying appropriate themes to be deployed in your final outcomes. Technical delivery will also allow you to improve hard skills associated with communication and documentation, where you will be able to access equipment and spaces necessary to the development of your abilities. Workshops and tutorials will benefit from peer discussion, where best practice can be further identified for students to align their process and outcomes to.
Further, more focused support in tutorial sessions will assist in refining your final portfolio of work for submission, recognising the uniqueness of your chosen subject, but also your own individuality in the work you produce.
How will I be supported academically on this module?
An initial briefing will outline the goals of the module, alongside the structure of the sessions to follow. Workshops will be delivered by knowledgeable staff, often reflecting their own research interests linked to the Fashion Communication sector. Where applicable, technical skills will be delivered by expert staff, providing demonstrations and support for students across their process. Methodologies of communication and practice (creating appropriate visual, textual and oral content) will be introduced and discussed within workshops, with tutorials aimed at further developing your final submission. Group work/peer discussion linked to the ongoing improvement of your practice, will assist your development in terms of knowledge, understanding and communication skills.
Further support regarding academic writing will be provided via the University Library.

Module abstract
In Content Creation and Media 2, you will focus on further developing your communicative ability, in the form of visual, textual and oral content. You will focus on themes of otherness and inclusivity to foreground subjects not often seen in the mainstream spotlight of fashion media. You will produce a final portfolio celebrating uniqueness and demonstrating the value of individuality to the wider fashion sector through subjects that represent the future of the industry. Using photography and image-making to capture your subject/s, you will construct textual narratives in the form of a written editorial feature, long form copy, and/or oral audio media (e.g. podcasts). This will reflect contemporary communication, where skills will be developed in line with industry standards and expectations.
