Northumbria Law School is one of the largest law schools in the UK and is ranked 7th amongst UK law schools for research power in REF 2021.  We have a national and international reputation for excellence in legal education, enriched by the research excellence and professional practice expertise of our staff.

Law _Page _Content _1We offer a comprehensive range of law courses, including postgraduate law programmes and flexible modes of study, to help our undergraduate students become aspiring lawyers and professionals, and our postgraduate students to take their legal careers to the next level.

Our £70 million state-of-the-art city centre location provides an outstanding learning environment with professional facilities including courtrooms, an onsite law practice library, and a multi-award-winning law clinic (the Student Law Office).

Our LL.B programme provides a thorough grounding in legal principles to help you progress towards legal careers as Barristers or Solicitors as well as developing transferable skill for those who wish to pursue non-legal careers.

Students who enrol on our LL.B and decide that they wish to qualify as solicitors have the option of transferring  to our M Law degree. This is an Integrated Masters programme which incorporates  knowledge and professional skills that will help you to pass key assessments set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (the Solicitors Qualifying Examination) that you must take on your journey to become a solicitor. We also offer the Postgraduate Legal Practice Diploma and Postgraduate Legal Practice Degree Course (including an LL.M variant) for graduates who wish to qualify as solicitors (and from 2023 will offer an LL.M in Professional Legal Practice to prepare graduates for stage 1 of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination).Thumb Law Books People

We are one of eight institutions outside of London to provide the postgraduate Bar Course (including FT, PT and LL.M modes) and our undergraduate M Law Exempting Bar Course (to which students who enrol on our LL.B can transfer) incorporates all the elements of academic and vocational study needed to train as barrister.

Our FT LL.M Framework includes Cyber Law, Criminal Justice, International Criminal Justice and International Commercial Law routes and we also have offer distance learning programmes in Data Protection and Information Rights.
