International students must complete a two step enrolment process. If you have a student visa, you must ensure that you complete your enrolment before your enrolment deadline, stated on your CAS. Please do try to enrol as near to your course start date where possible.

Information on the enrolment process for all students, information on late enrolment and annual re-enrolment can be found here.

All students enrolling at Northumbria University must supply evidence of their current status in the UK. Enrolment is subject to terms stated in the University Compliance Protocol.

You will be sent details via email when you are able to pre-enrol on your course. This will give you all the information that you need to enrol. Please do not try to enrol before you have received the notification that you can pre-enrol.

You must log onto your Student Portal and click on the ‘enrol’ button.

Step 1: Pre-registration. You must complete pre-registration and this can be completed from your home country. Please follow the steps on the ‘enrol’ button and provide all of the information requested.

Step 2: Visa verification. You must upload visa documents as soon as you arrive in the UK. You are not fully enrolled until you have provided your visa documents and they have been verified.

Once you have completed step 1 and step 2, you will receive a confirmation of enrolment and a visa verification email. Once your visa verification is complete, you will receive information on how and where to collect your University student smartcard. Please refer to our BRP webpage for further information on how and where to collect your BRP from.

  • Evidence of your immigration permission to study in the UK, such as; front and back of your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card or your UKVI decision letter stating your BRP card collection address.

  • Your passport photo ID page.

If you have been issued a digital visa instead of a physical visa you should upload the following;

  • Digital status share code which can be found by entering your details here.

  • A copy of your boarding pass showing your date of entry to the UK.

  • Your passport photo ID page.

Non-Student Route student

  • Evidence of your last entry to the UK (stamped transit visa or entry stamp).

  • Your full visa (Front and back of BRP or Share Code).

  • Your passport photo ID page.

If you have a pending visa application in the UK you should upload:

  • Evidence of the type of visa application currently pending, showing your full name, date of application and type of visa application.

  • Please note we may need to make enquiries with the UKVI regarding any pending visa applications before we can confirm eligibility to enrol.

You must show you have status in the UK which allows you to study your chosen course. Please note: If you are enrolling as an exams only student with no attendance, you will be asked to provide evidence that you are outside of the UK before you can be enrolled.
