Where are you from?

Ripon, North Yorkshire

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Newcastle is a vibrant city which is very student focussed! The course suited me very well and I really liked Northumbria when I came to have a look around.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle! The city feels so safe, and all the locals are really friendly. It's great that the university is so close to the city centre, so shopping and the nightlife are right on your doorstep! And the countryside and the beach are so close as well, so it's easy to get out and explore.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, definitely! There are so many societies and groups that you can get involved in, and everyone was so friendly.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Meeting lots of new friends!

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My dissertation supervisor was so helpful!

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Some of my lecturers have been very inspiring - I hope that one day I am as passionate as they are about my job!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I have applied to do a second degree in midwifery. Although it isn't directly related to my psychology degree, I have learnt so many things that will help me to become a good midwife including communication skills, time-management, team work and general academic skills.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Think carefully about halls of residence and apply early! If you enjoy where you live in first year it will make all the difference, and you'll make the most of your time at university because of it.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have definitely become more confident and outgoing.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?
