Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I chose Newcastle Business School due to the quality of learning facilities it offers to aid the learning experience. I came to Northumbria University as an undergraduate doing a BA (Hons) business course and the all round wealth of experience I gained from both the University and the City, was substantial that I had no doubt which University would set me up with the best learning for my Masters. 

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is a beautiful vibrant city with always plenty going on both during the day and at night that you never feel alone or without anything to do. Shopping is a must for me and with the city centre and the Metro Centre, I can shop to my hearts content (even with my part time salary). 

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

What surprised me the most was how safe Newcastle feels for Students. There is always students walking around that you feel part of a community and safe within the community. I was also very impressed by how friendly the people are here in Newcastle - I have definitely made some life long friends with the Geordies! 

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

From receiving a welcome card to the day I graduated from my undergraduate degree, Northumbria University has been more than welcoming. Always plenty of people around the Student Union to hang around with and have fun in the Quad. 

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

How Northumbria has set me up in life, both with a degree aswell as with friends for life. I've had a lot of fun and I've studied hard and studying at Northumbria and being in Newcastle give you the opportunity to do both. 

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

I'd say my friends I've made at University. The culture at the University is friendly, relaxed and everyone's in the same position so all club together when you need help. 

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Students' Union. 

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

Being a Student Representative and a Aimhigher representative brough both satisfaction for helping young people raise their aspirations and develop my own skills. 

What is the best thing about your course?

Ability to study part-time around my work so enables me to pay the bills whilst develop further, to enhance my future career prospects.  

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Pursue a career in HR.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

Placement in 3rd as a People and Organisational Development Assistant for a large Chemicals company. Was given so much responsibility and learnt a tremedous ampount about the businesss and it helped me to secure a job my ideal job with the company I wanted to work for when graduating.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Excellent facilities, teaching and learning experiences matched with a booming social life. 

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

Grow in confidence massively as well as a person. Gained life and educational skills.
