Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Great laboratory facilities, great people, great atmosphere, in the best city in England!

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Access to the beach, countryside and cosmopolitan city, what more could you want? I fish regularly and scuba dive off Whitley bay.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I thought I knew my city well, Northumbria has impressed me with the sheer amount if things available exclusively to NU students.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

From staff to fellow students, all are welcoming.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

NU has everything covered! All the student support you could ask for and that includes support for a night out!

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Dr Richard Ranson, he's experienced in the field I wish to pursue and the way he lectures is unlike any other. Truly engaging.

What is your favourite place on campus?

SU on a Sunday night.

What is the best thing about your course?

 

Absolutely all of the content so far has been interesting. No 'chore modules'

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Histology / Pathology. Lab practice and investigative research. Confidence in my knowledge will be of most use.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I have worked with the NHS Blood and Transplant Service and with Leica Biosystems. My most memorable experience was seeing an emergency case requiring blood matching from request to seeing the blood bike leave with blues and twos.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Take a look at the facilities, both recreational and educational and realise this is the place for you!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

Confidence in my knowledge, backed up by assignment feedback.
