Where are you from?

Athens, Greece

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Northumbria University was my first choice because of the level of education that it provides. Also, Newcastle is a city that offers a lot to a student as it gives them the opportunity to meet students all over the world and has a lot of activities to be involved in. Northumbria students' union is one of the most organised student communities in the country and Northumbria is a place where you can be an athlete during your studies as students can take part in a variety of sports.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is the perfect city for students, because it is a small town and at the same time a big city as it provides everything a big town has in small distances. Local people are really helpful and friendly. My favourite thing to do in Newcastle in my free time is to hang out with friends and spend time in pubs, bars, clubs. Also I love cycling and Newcastle is a really beautiful city to travel.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

The most impressive thing in Newcastle after the breathtaking Millennium bridge at sunset is that alot of people here are students - it is really nice to have people near you who are in the same life situation with you; t makes you feel part of it.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Student union helped me a lot to get socialised and meet friends. Northumbria's people help me a lot with anything I need.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

I really enjoyed my visit to St James park where I saw Newcastle United play against Chelsea - we won and it was amazing!

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

A lot of people have helped me here but I think that I learned to help myself as I became more responsible and mature.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

A teacher of mine has inspired me the most as he is ver knowledgable about everything within his subject.

What is your favourite place on campus?

My favourite place is Habbita and around the students' union in the Spring where students chill on the grass, drinking their coffee and have a really good time.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I joined the volleyball team this year and I played the whole season. The highlights were when Team Northumbria got into the championship and finished in second place in the cup. I also traveled to other cities with my team mates and had a lot of laughs. It was a great opportunity to visit more places in England and see how other universities work.

What is the best thing about your course?

I love my course and it is really interesting for me so I have no regrets about my choice. The best thing is that I get the chance to develop myself.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to get my degree and then continue with a Masters. Then I want to travel the world. I have improved my way of thinking a lot and I have learned a lot about  the human mind, behavior and structure.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

I went to Scotland for skiing and it was an amazing and unforgettable experience. It was a 3 day trip with back packs and our only worry was to reach the mountains.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

I would obviously say that Northumbria is the place to go to study. I could talk with numbers and personal experiences as well. For example I would talk to about what the university provides and what the city has to offer.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

First of all I feel really confident as my English has really developed from when I first came here. I also feel ready about what to expect from people so I don't feel uncomfortable in certain situations.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

YES!
