Food facility

The Food and Nutrition labs are available to support  training and development, commercial use and testing. 

We offer an extensive range of food and nutrition facilities and consultancy services, including a processing facility and a food technology lab, which is ideal for chef training and development academies. Our lab and facilities can either be used for self use or as part of wider consultancy projects delivered by our expert academics.

 

Equipment & Facilities  

We have a vast range of equipment, labs and facilities available for private hire and use. These include:  

  • Analytical equipment for analysis of food structure

  • Dietary analysis

  • Digital imaging equipment

  • Efficacy testing

  • Food technology kitchen

  • Microbiological testing

  • Organoleptic and sensory analysis lab

 

Consultancy Services 

Our team consists of food microbial safety specialists, encapsulation technologists, food chemists, enzymologists, fermentation specialists and Registered Nutritionists. Our expert academics provide consultancy in a number of areas including Food processing and product development through to nutrition education, weight management, healthy eating, nutrition health promotion, nutrition awareness and provision in the care of the elderly, the under fives and vulnerable groups. We have carried out consultancy and also training to a number of providers including local authorities, HMP prison service and residential care homes.

 

Research & Testing 

Our food scientists are able to work with organisations to conduct a range of research, testing and consultancy for the food industry including: food processing, environmental monitoring programs and cleaning and disinfection approaches, and analysis of food products including sensory and nutrient composition analyses.
