If you’re passionate about the art and culture scene, being involved within a creative community and looking to study within the areas of arts and performance then we’re confident you’ll find a course to suit you.

The School of Design, Arts and Creative Industries is one of the largest in the UK for studying arts, performance, culture, and cultural history with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate options available.

We recognise that industry experience and contacts are invaluable to you and so have built strong relationships and partnerships with cultural and creative organisations including The National Trust, Tyne and Wear Archives Museum, and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, with opportunities for educational visits, work placements, site visits and industry lectures.

You’ll learn in dedicated studio spaces using our range of professional facilities including access to professional exhibition spaces, an onsite theatre, portable sound and lighting rigs and much more.  Alongside our community of teaching staff with experience and knowledge as talented performers, artists, scholars and educators you’ll also learn from high-caliber visiting artists, performers, academics, researchers, directors, actors, choreographers and musicians, including many with an international reputation as experts in their field.
