Decision Making Research Group Seminar - Prof Marc Reimann

Thurs 30th April 2024 - 15:00-16:00

Venue - CCE1-218; Faculty of business and Law - Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK

"Should we prolong the life of machines? Saving resources through repair of consumer products"

Ever wondered about repair's place in the sustainability puzzle? We'll be diving deep into how it's not just about recycling and reuse – repair plays a crucial part, too. See below the abstract for this presentation:

Circular economy is seen as an instrument to use scarce resources better and thus ensure sustainability. In addition to recycling, reuse, and reuse, repair is a central process of the circular economy. However, in contrast to waste separation and recycling, repair is not directly associated with sustainability in society at large and only plays a very minor role. This talk addresses the role of repair in sustainable business, shows government interventions already in place to facilitate repair, presents findings on drivers and barriers to repair from the consumer's perspective and sheds light on improving operational processes in repair companies.
