Placements

Psychology placements provide students with the experience and knowledge of working in a range of different support services including education-based support; community support and group work.

Psychology Placement Modules are offered at both Level 5 and Level 6, each designed to help Northumbria University students develop employability skills such as time management, communication, problem solving and self-management.

Students who embark on a placement will gain exposure to the knowledge and experience of fellow professionals, and will be able to build up a network of industry contacts whilst on placement. The module aims to develop students who can independently self-manage, proactively interact and apply their knowledge and skills in a work-related context in a psychology-related environment.

Students are fully supported during the placement journey, from the initial contact with the provider and throughout the placement itself, to evaluating the experience. Placement choices encompass a wide range of host organisations in order to reflect the diversity of career paths open to Psychology graduates.

We have excellent working partnerships with a diverse range organisations including:

Placement Modules

Modules accumulate a minimum of 70 hours of support work experience. It is expected that students will attend their placement fortnightly at a minimum. Students will document their experience by completing a reflective diary throughout the year and module assessments.
