Our Alumni - Work For Us
Students choosing to study at Northumbria University after receiving their results on Thursday will benefit from guaranteed real-world experience and free access to AI tools in every undergraduate course.
The University – which is first in the North East for the number of UK undergraduates going into skilled jobs – now guarantees real-world experiential learning opportunities on every undergraduate course.
This real-world learning includes placements, consultancy, pro-bono and live projects and simulation learning, all designed to give students hands-on experience and the chance to build their professional skills and networks long before they graduate.

And this academic year, Northumbria became only the second university in the UK to offer students free access to Claude for Education – a leading AI platform built by Anthropic. Northumbria is committed to equity and opportunity for all, no matter their background, and free access to Claude will prepare every student for the workplaces of the future in an AI-enabled world.
With A-level, AS-level, VTQ and T-level results released on Thursday 13 August, thousands of young people and parents across the country will be anxiously awaiting their grades.
Northumbria’s online Clearing Hub provides students and parents with all the information and advice they need ahead of the day.
The University’s Clearing Hotline will also open at 8am, with trained staff on hand to talk students through their options after they receive their results.
In recent years, UCAS has reported a huge increase in the number of students using Clearing to proactively explore their options and find a new course or university. Many students now use Clearing after changing their plans or to apply for a place for the first time.
Gilly Gosling-Bell, Director of UK Recruitment and Marketing at Northumbria University, said: “We know that this can be a very anxious time for students and parents and our specially trained staff are on hand to provide as much information and advice as possible.
“From answering questions and explaining choices, our friendly staff are here to guide and support students at this important time in their lives.
“Choosing which university to go to can be daunting, and we want any student considering studying at Northumbria to be aware of the excellent facilities and support we provide.
“We want every student who studies at Northumbria to benefit from an exceptional educational experience – from our free access to AI tools, our guarantee of real-world experience on every undergraduate course, our flexible study routes and our investment in first-class facilities.”
Northumbria has launched several new initiatives during the current academic year in response to growing demand from students and employers.
A range of new courses have been launched in which students study on the same days throughout the duration of their programme to support them to work or manage their caring commitments alongside their studies. Fixed-block degrees see students study on the same three days each week for the duration of their course, while a new centre for adult learners, The Bridge, sees students beginning at foundation level and studying for two days per week.
Earlier this week, the University also announced a major £4 million investment in new healthcare facilities for physiotherapy, nursing, midwifery and allied health courses.
The investment will see Northumbria open new teaching and clinic spaces for physiotherapy students on its city campus – enabling it to offer more physiotherapy places – and new simulation facilities for students at its Coach Lane Campus, home to the School of Healthcare and Nursing Sciences.
Northumbria University has a limited number of places available through Clearing in subjects including Business, Psychology, Sport, Adult Nursing, Law, Engineering, Space, Social and Applied Sciences, Humanities, Arts and Design and Computer Science.
For more information visit Northumbria University’s Clearing Hub or call the Clearing Hotline on 0800 085 1085.
