Dr Oleg Kirillov

Associate Professor

Oleg had worked previously at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf for 5 years as a Senior Research Scientist of the Magnetohydrodynamics Department of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics; at the University of Darmstadt for 5 years as an Alexander von Humboldt and DFG Research Fellow; and at the Lomonosov Moscow State University for 7 years as a Senior Researcher. He gained a BSc with honours in Physics and Mathematics, followed by MSc with honours in Physics and Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and a PhD in Theoretical Mechanics from the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Since 2013 Oleg is a visiting professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, at the University of Trento, at ESPCI ParisTech, and at the University of Le Havre.

Oleg had organized a BIRS Research Workshop on Spectral Analysis, Stability and Bifurcation in Modern Nonlinear Physical Systems in Banff, Canada, in 2012. He is a coordinator and co-organizer of the CISM-AIMETA Advanced School “Dynamic Stability and Bifurcation in Nonconservative Mechanics” in Udine, Italy, in 2017. Oleg is a co-organizer of a Mini-Symposium on Instabilities in Structural Mechanics and Fluid-Structure Interactions at the EUROMECH European Solid Mechanics Conference in Bologna, Italy, in 2018.

Oleg is an author of the monograph “Nonconservative Stability problems of Modern Physics” published by De Gruyter in 2013.

Oleg is a Fellow of the institute of Mathematics and its applications (FIMA), fellow of the Higher Eduction Academy (FHEA) and a member of the London Mathematical Society.
