Our Alumni - Work For Us
Lucy graduated in 2007, with First class BA(Hons) in Interior Design. She immediately began work in commercial practice at Ward Robinson, where she designed across a range of sectors including in high end hospitality, leisure, workplace, healthcare, civic and education. Whilst working in industry full time, Lucy taught periodically as a visiting lecturer at Northumbria University, delivering digital communication and visualisation skills as well as commercial design project studio sessions. In 2012 she joined Northumbria University full time as a Senior Lecturer on the Interior Design programme.
During her time at Northumbria Lucy's roles have included Programme Leader, Link Tutor for the international franchise partnership with Academy of Design in Sri Lanka and International Admissions Tutor. Lucy is currently undertaking an MRes in Design whilst teaching on the BA(Hons) Interior Design programme part time. Her area of teaching interest and specialism lies in digital communication, leading the programme’s digital visualisation delivery throughout years 2 & 3. Throughout her time in practice and academia, Lucy has maintained a freelance portfolio, working on live commercial interior design projects in the North of England.

Most recently Lucy's research has explored the changing nature of the interior, the notion of 'place' and 'placemaking' and the conceptually and experientially elusive state of 'interiority'. Additional research interests lie in the adaptive re-use and re-purposing of existing architecture and interiors, how we may better utilise unused or ruinous spaces.
