Jaclyn Paterson

Assistant Professor

School: Northumbria School of Law

Jaclyn was appointed to the School of Law in August 2011. Prior to that Jaclyn had been teaching UK Constitutional Law and Company Law at the University of Durham and acting as an Admissions Tutor whilst undertaking her PhD thesis. Jaclyn completed her Doctorate on the institutional relationships of the United Kingdom Final Court of Appeal in 2016. The work constitutes one of the definitive studies of the UK’s top courts in the transitional period from the Appellate Committee to the UK Supreme Court and draws upon original empirical data. 

Jaclyn graduated with a first class LLB (Hons) from the University of Durham before completing the LPC with distinction from the College of Law in York. She trained with North East firm Bond Dickinson LLP before qualifying as a Banking and Finance solicitor with global law firm Squire Sanders.
In Jaclyn’s career as a Banking and Finance solicitor, Jaclyn acted for numerous banks, lenders, and private equity firms as well as private companies, PLCs, industrial and provident societies, individuals and charities. Jaclyn’s work varied from re-financings, the funding of acquisitions, property finance transactions to undertaking security reviews and reviewing condition precedent documentation. Jaclyn also worked on several International cross-border re-financings.
