Doctor Vivien Perry

Assistant Professor

School: Healthcare and Nursing Sciences

I joined Northumbria University in 2015, having worked in Higher Education since 2010 at the University of Bedfordshire. I have worked as a Registered General Nurse since 1995, specialising in Cardiothoracic intensive Care. I then became a midwife, working in hospital and community settings. I have undertaken serval leadership roles; Lead Midwife for Education, Programme Lead, Admissions Lead and Departmental Fitness to Practice Lead.

My PhD, explored student midwives’ opinions and experiences of the Nursing & Midwifery Council requirement to demonstrate Good Character whilst off-duty.

I am passionate about supporting stundets to become the best midwives they can be.
