Dr Paula Rosa

Lecturer

Paula Rosa joined Northumbria University in 2023. She is a Lecturer in Criminology and a qualified lawyer in Brazil, where she worked as a criminal defence lawyer in high profile cases. Her research has been mainly on prison policies, having completed a PhD in prison policies and the Inter-American System of Human Rights, at the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo (USP). She has published papers and book chapters on white collar crimes, gender-based violence, torture, drugs, prisons, international criminal law and international human rights law. She also does voluntary work with organisations that seek to improve the criminal justice system.
