Dr. Hongyan Xia

Assistant Professor

Dr. Hongyan Xia is a Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow and Assistant Professor at Northumbria University, and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the design and synthesis of stimuli-responsive and smart molecules and polymers, with applications in information display, storage, and anti-counterfeiting technologies. Prior to joining Northumbria, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh from 2021 to 2023. Dr. Xia received her PhD from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2017 and has previously worked at Guangdong University of Technology for three years.
