Academic Congregations Winter 2024
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Newcastle Congregation ceremonies in December.
A confirmation of your booking will be sent out to you in the week beginning 25 November. Your confirmation email will give you further information about the day and the timings for the event. Please bring this with you on the day.
You will need one form of ID to pick up your name card from the registration desk so please ensure you have this with you. Accepted ID documents include your University smartcard, valid driving licence, passport or BRP card.
A small number of tickets will be on sale at the registration desk for the ceremonies below ONLY which are not already at capacity. Tickets will be available for
- 2nd December 2024 10:30
- 2nd December 2024 13:30
- 3rd December 2024 10:30
These will be available on a first come, first served basis and will be non-refundable and non-transferable.
If you have not yet booked a gown, you can hire one on the day from Ede and Ravenscroft who will be in the Students Union.

Deferring your ceremony if you cannot attend
If you cannot attend your congregation ceremony for personal reasons, you can apply for deferral. Once you have received your invitation, you can opt to attend a future ceremony by completing the Deferral Application Form. Please note if you wish to attend a Congregation, you must attend within one year of being awarded. You should apply for deferral before the date of your original ceremony, any deferral applications submitted retrospectively will not be considered.
