The Power of Influence Introduction to Social Psychology

We are influenced by people in a multitude of ways. From advertisers to politicians, people around us are constantly trying to influence us for better or for worse. In this lecture we will explore how social psychology has developed experiments to show how the influence of those around us makes us ignore, help, or harm others.

Understanding Alcoholism

It is estimated that 80% of adults in the UK drink alcohol, but only around 4% develop alcohol dependence. Why? I will consider how psychologists have investigated the development of alcohol problems through the lenses of social, biological, cognitive, developmental and personality psychology.
