The United Kingdom will associate to the Erasmus+ programme from 2027 onwards. Northumbria University is proud to maintain strong ties with Europe through our extensive European Partnerships.

Northumbria University already has existing agreements with European partners. To reassociate, the University has applied for an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and will apply for funding from September 2027 onwards if successful.
As part of our strategic ambitions staff mobility and KA2 collaborative projects will continue and enhance our current achievements:
- Top 30 for quality in Research Excellent Framework (REF) 2029.
- Top 20 for research power in REF 2029.
- Currently 80% of our research is rated internationally excellent or world leading.
- 54% of REF submissions impacting communities outside of the UK.
