Northumbria University welcomes applicants from Ghana with a range of qualifications across our pathway, undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses.
Please note that the following are general entry guidelines for students from Ghana. Actual requirements may vary depending on your chosen course of study, and some courses may have specific or additional entry criteria; full details are available in our course directory. Decisions for entry will also be based on personal statements and previous study information, not just your final course grading.

Although some courses have specific requirements for entry, Northumbria will consider any qualification for entry to its courses.

Please note these are general entry guidelines. Actual requirements may vary depending on your chosen course of study and certain courses may have specific or additional entry requirements, full details of which can be found by clicking our Course link. Decisions for entry will also be based on personal statements, previous study information and not just your final course grading.
For most degree level and above courses we accept the following qualifications as evidence of English Language.
WAEC – We typically require C6 for most courses*
NECO (accepted for September 2022 Intake onwards) – we typically require B3 for most courses*
Please upload your WAEC/NECO certificate as part of your application where possible, along with a copy of your scratch card where applicable.
*Please note that these tests may not be acceptable for certain Professional or Pre Registration Health Courses. Other courses may have different grading requirements.
