How will changes in Antarctica’s glaciers lead to rises in global sea level? How can we help communities experiencing the increased adverse weather events as a result of climate change? Can we better predict space weather and the impact it is having on Earth? Can volunteering build key skills and reduce inequalities experienced by young refugees?
Geography and Environmental Studies investigates the increasingly urgent issues affecting the world and its people such as the climate crisis, global sustainable development, solar-terrestrial science and cold climates. A bold, collaborative and ambitious approach is needed to solve these complex critical global challenges. Northumbria is rising to this challenge with multidisciplinary research embedded in its structure and ethos, strong global partnerships to influence and change policy, and innovative projects working with marginalised communities around the world.
