Our AlumniBritish cinema is a key feature of research in this area, with a focus on genres and popular cinema. Another important focus involves work on cult and fantasy-based genres such as horror and science fiction. In this context, academics research international cult cinemas, American and East Asian genre cinemas, extreme cinema and European cinema.
The group is also developing its work on television, both in its own right and in its connection with cinema in the context of genre histories.
Recent achievements include Steve Jones' book Torture Porn, Alison Peirse's book After Dracula, and James Leggott and Jamie Sexton's edited collection on the work of television satirist Chris Morris.
