Where are you from?

Darlington

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

My sister went to Northumbria and when I came to visit her, I loved it!

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

It's a great place to live and very friendly. There is alot of outdoorsy things to do like going to the beach, exhibition park and biking around the area.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How much of a loveable city it is. It's not overly populated which means it's not overwhelming if you come to university from somewhere rural.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Making friends and feeling part of Northumbria University.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My friends I made in the women's hockey club. It's like a family and everyone helps each other out and looks after each other.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Strangely the library. Even if you have lots of work to do there is always another friend in the same boat that you can go find and chat to when you are feeling stressed.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I have been part of the hockey club throughout my time at Northumbria which has been totally amazing. I made the majority of my friends there and it has been so fun.

What is the best thing about your course?

Learning about food!

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Work consistently and dont leave things til the last minute.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I would like to launch my own health foods business. My course and my love for health and fitness has helped lead me onto a career path that I look forward to. I have learned many skills but the most valuable is my organisation and confidence which has developed throughout my degree.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I worked on a placement in second year and found that it brought all I had learnt in class and applied it to industry so I could understand it fully.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Don't worry!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I am so much more confident that I was when I first enrolled and I feel I have found my own identity and am confortable in my own skin.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Amazing, unforgetable, exciting!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
