Where are you from?

Hereford

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

A friend was graduating from the same course I am on and recommended it. I came to look at the uni and loved it.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

The North East is a genuinely lovely friendly place. I love how there is plenty to do both in the day and night so you're never bored.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

There's a strange Southern view that the North is really rough... I've found this is not true. I'm most impressed by the diversity of people in the city.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

I did. Although I am on a huge course I quickly made friends with those in smaller groups and the tutors actively encouraged us to talk to lots of different people.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Flat mates. I was very nervous about coming to uni. My flat mates helped me a lot.

What is your favourite place on campus?

1st floor of the library. Big comfy sofas to work on and you can socialise at the same time.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I joined intermural netball. Again it helped make lots of friends and the team northumbria girls that run it are lovely and really encouraging.

What is the best thing about your course?

The diversity of the things that we study.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

You need to budget.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I've learnt to be more confident in myself and my work. I'd like to take psychology further and do a masters and maybe a career in psychology.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Come and visit. Don't take what you hear for granted.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I'm so much more confident and find it a lot easier to make friends as I came from far away and so I knew no one when I came here.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Best year ever.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes
