Northumbria’s fashion students conquer the audience at London Graduate Fashion Week

Twenty of Northumbria’s innovative students showcased a series of six outfits each at London Graduate Fashion Week – the world’s leading event celebrating the creativity of graduates within fashion. Inspired outfits took the catwalk by storm to rave reviews with Northumbria students winning a number of awards throughout the week.

Northumbria is renowned for nurturing the talent of its fashion students, ensuring they develop their creativity and reach their full potential, so that they are equipped to enter such a highly competitive industry. Previous alumni have joined the ranks of internationally renowned fashion houses and companies, including Burberry, DKNY, Lanvin, Paul Smith, Karen Millen, ASOS, and Zara among many others.

Along with the top 20 Fashion graduates, students from Fashion, Fashion Design and Marketing and Fashion Communication, have also been showing their final undergraduate year work on the Northumbria Graduate Fashion Week stand throughout this week. Seven have been shortlisted for Exhibition Awards, which will be announced during the Fashion Week, with three award wins and a scholarship for Northumbria students so far.

Among the two Northumbria students shortlisted for the Marketing Award, Nuala Convery was announced as the winner. Graduate Genevive Devine also won the Sainsbury’s TU Scholarship following her nomination. Two Fashion Communication students have also won prestigious awards: Erika Bowes has won the Fashion Photography Award at Graduate Fashion Week and Hollie McCartern-Donnelly has also won the DiversityNOW People’s Choice award in collaboration with i-D magazine. Other students nominated during the Exhibition Awards include Katie Speake, who was nominated for the Drapers Fashion Publication Award, Georgina Colombo, a finalist for the Ethical Award, and Juliette Perry who was shortlisted for the New Business Award.
