Dr Mark Bushell

Assistant Professor

Mark Bushell joined Northumbria University in 2024 as Assistant Professor in Criminology and Sociology. Mark has over 10 years experience of lecturing in criminology, sociology and criminal justice in the higher education sector. He gained his doctorate in 2021 which focused on the experiences of migrant workers in northeast England's nocturnal service economy. 

Mark Bushell

Mark's research interests include the nighttime economy and deviant leisure, workplace violence, social harm and ultra-realist ciminological theory. He is currently researching violence and abuse against public facing workers in the retail sector.
