Dr Hamed Farokhi

Associate Professor

Department: Mechanical and Construction Engineering

Hamed received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University in 2017. He joined Northumbria University as a Senior Lecturer in 2018. Prior to joining Northumbria University, he was a Post-doctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London working on a European Project, where he was conducting research on Probabilistic Optimisation of Composite Structures.

Hamed’s research interests fall mainly into nonlinear vibration and dynamic analysis of mechanical systems in macro/micro/nano scales and their applications in energy harvesting and structural design and optimisation. He has published more than 90 papers in international refereed journals. He has been invited as a peer-reviewer by more than 25 international journals and has been awarded the recognition of Outstanding Reviewer by several Elsevier journals. Additionally, he was endorsed by the Royal Academy of Engineering as an exceptional promise in Mechanical Engineering.
