Allan Hughes' practice deploys SF and parafictional narratives to conspire in the production of remediated histories through forms of post-produced audio visual installation.

Current collaborative projects include Blue Mountain Arcturus, a fictional games research company co-managed with the artist/curator Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson; recent projects of which include the exhibition Polymorph Other at IMT Gallery, London and Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham. They are currently developing a paper on the practice for a publication on table-top utopias.

Hughes is also a member of NEUSCHLOSS; an irregular coalition of teaching staff at Northumbria University who, through collaborative practice, explore the problem of what it is to make art within the context of an academic institution. Recent projects have included an on-going engagement and reframing of the artwork Tattoo (1986/2013) by former Northumbria Fine Art lecturer David Dye (1945-2015), a live pedagogic event held within a Jason Rhoades artwork at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and a magical cleansing of the Northumbria University staff well-being centre.
