Philip Harvey

HLS_Philip -Harvey _Northumbra -University -Staff _Programme -Leader -Sport -Development _255Philip is the programme leader for the BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching degree.   His main responsibilities lie in the delivery of Sport Development with Coaching modules and the management of the overall programme at undergraduate level.

Prior to his appointment here Philip worked as a National manager for Sport England, working with various partners including all National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) funded by Sport England, the Youth Sport Trust (YST) and the English Federation for Disability Sport (EFDS).   Philip has also worked for the Rugby Football Union in their community development department where he was responsible for the development of all facets of the game across Durham and Tees Valley.   This role also included working closely with both Leeds Tykes and Newcastle Falcons in the development of player and coaching pathways in the region.

Philip played rugby union professionally for Bath, Saracens and West Hartlepool RFCs.  He represented England at all junior age group levels up to and including U21s.  He is a level 4 Coach and also an accredited Trainer for the RFU.  He has coached Durham University 1stXV to BUSA success, England Universities and England Students as well as a variety of junior development squads (ranging from County age groups to academy squads) in the North East and Yorkshire.
