Vicky Mercer

Victoria Mercer completed a degree in Biological Sciences (Honours) at the University of Edinburgh, and following this completed an MSc in Physiotherapy (pre-registration) at Queen Margaret University College.  Victoria has worked clinically as a physiotherapist for over twenty years, specialising in the field of community paediatrics, and worked as a team lead for the Children’s Physiotherapy Service in South Tyneside.  In 2023, Victoria moved across to Northumbria University taking up a full-time lecturing post as part of the Physiotherapy team.  Victoria is also part of the mandatory training team, and has a role within the departmental education outreach strategy.  Victoria undertook a research secondment role prior to her appointment at Northumbria University, working on an industry funded, multi-site project creating an assessment triage tool for children with musculoskeletal presentations.  Victoria continues to pursue research interests in this field through a Professional Doctorate qualification.  Victoria has recently become a fellow of AdvanceHE (HEA), and is a member of the national committee for the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists.
