Dr Annette Salles

Annette Salles is a postdoctoral research assistant in the transdisciplinary research project REframing climate change impact Modelling and Adaptation in the Global South through integration of InDigenous knowledge with climate models (REMAID) based in the Centre for Global Development (CGD). As a climate scientist with a keen interest in indigenous environmental knowledge, she will contribute to combining the climate knowledge evident in the poetry of Western Sahara nomads and poets with the scarce meteorological observations available to evaluate regional climate models. In her PhD research, she used ice thickness and temperature observations in conjunction with Canadian First Nations’ knowledge about local environmental changes to project the future of winter roads, an essential infrastructure and lifeline for many remote communities.
