Marco's expertise spans clinical learning environments, mentorship, the organisational transition of newcomer nurses, and the application of work and organisational psychology to nursing science and healthcare management. Integrating nursing science with behavioural, digital health, and public health perspectives, his work addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing health and care systems, from workforce sustainability and nurse retention to vaccination hesitancy and the complex health needs of vulnerable populations. His research vision is multidisciplinary, integrating nursing science with the theoretical and methodological approaches of work and organisational psychology to deepen the understanding of nursing phenomena.
Marco holds a Bachelor in Nursing, a Master in Nursing Science, a PhD in Work and Organisational Psychology (University of Verona), and a Docent (Adjunct Professor) position at the University of Oulu (Finland). He is ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in his field (Stanford University, 2024–2025).
His academic profile underpins his broad methodological expertise including meta-analysis, multilevel modelling, structural equation modelling, machine learning, and AI-enhanced multivariate analysis, applied consistently across nursing science, organisational behaviour, and public health research.
Throughout his career, Marco has contributed significantly to the field through numerous publications and projects. His research has provided new insights into healthcare education, management, and public health. His publications and funded projects highlight Marco’s network of international collaborations.
Through his multidisciplinary approach, extensive publication record, and active international collaborations, Marco continues to contribute insights and advancements to nursing science, public health, and healthcare management.
