Sport Scholarships

Supporting Student-Athletes

At Northumbria, we believe sporting excellence and academic ambition go hand in hand, and our Sport Scholarships are designed to support you in developing both athletically and academically.

We have a range of Sport Scholarships available for exceptional student-athletes competing at an academic, national or international standard, as well as those who can show strong evidence of outstanding future potential.

Applications for September 2026 are open via the Northumbria Sport website. To find out more or seek support on completing a scholarship application, please complete the register interest form below, and a member of Northumbria Sport will be in touch.

Sport Scholarship Eligibility

Sport Scholarship applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Be of an academy, national or international standard in your sport, or show strong evidence of future outstanding potential.
  • Be accepted and enrolled on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course at either of our Newcastle upon Tyne campuses (City or Coach Lane).
  • Be studying at least 60 credits a year as a Home or International student at either of our Newcastle upon Tyne campuses (City or Coach Lane).

Note: Each scholarship comes with its own set of terms and conditions, and the above may not be an exhaustive list of applicable criteria. Please refer to the Northumbria Sport website for the most up-to-date information or register your interest for a follow-up from a member of the team.
